What I do
While a graduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology, projects included an augmented reality STEM education application, proximity and step tracking wristbands for families, and a quantified self and smart home tool. Her PhD research focus is in the field of Human-Animal-Computer Interaction and seeks to address the information asymmetry between humans and dogs through ubiquitous computing technologies. Was recently awarded the Wearable Computing Center Engagement Grant for ONSCENT a wearable scent detection system for working dogs. A founding member of the Animal-Computer Interaction Lab at Georgia Institute of Technology and a recipient of the 2015 Intel PhD Fellowship and 2016 SRC Graduate Fellowship.
Prior to returning to academia, she worked with a variety of tech startups, including apps (primarily productivity, communication, and education), as well as both large and small educational institutions and retail organisations. Having done everything from product management, UX/UI, mobile app design, event planning, press outreach, MDM, and copywriting, she set her sights on earning a PhD from the School of Interactive Computing in Human Centered Computing and a minor in Industrial Design and she defended her thesis in 2017. She was co-advised by Dr. Gregory Abowd and Dr Melody Jackson and was a member of the Ubiquitous Computing Lab and Animal-Computer Interaction Lab at Georgia Tech. She currently works at Apple.
