Facilitating Interactions for Dogs with Occupations
The main goal of the FIDO project is to research fundamental aspects of wearable technologies to support communication between working dogs and their handlers. The FIDO team investigated on-body interfaces for assistance dogs, SAR dogs, and Police K9s, in the form of wearable technology integrated into dog vests. This project is funded by the Georgia Tech GVU Center and the National Science Foundation.
Augmented reality mobile app that layers virtual physics content on top of real-life objects to help students understand complex physics concepts. One of the unique aspects of this project is how it is able to be scaffolded across various age groups and help educators address the relevant standards. From the “Push & Pulls” in second grade to the “Simple Machines” in eighth, the Personalised Lenses app has an adaptability that sets it apart from other STEM education tools. This project is funded by the Verizon Foundation.
iOS application that allows multiple quantified self and smart home data sources to be tracked and compared side by side. By allowing for the aggregation and visualization of this data on a single platform, Graphed solves the problem of data silos. Currently in alpha and accepting beta testers: http://www.getgraphed.com
Proximity Sensing Wristbands for Child & Caregiver
Created for the Biologically Inspired Design project for the Georgia Institute of Technology MID program, Flock is a proximity sensing wristband system that takes its inspiration from the flocking behaviour of birds.Prototype built using 3D printing, Arduino boards, 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4 Transceiver modules and LED lighting for glance-able feedback. A companion app was designed to support the addition of step tracking via an accelerometer and the ability to change the proximity alert range.
